The 2013 Spring and Summer projects
Heather bed prior to planting in April
Heather bed in September
Handrail now all the way up to the Bee Terrace
Looking down from the bee terrace, note the old cotoneaster by the plank on the right hand side of the shot
By September the cotoneaster reduced to a small bush and the "Pulpit" built

More Terraces On Phase Two
Constuction of terraces continues during January
Being built on either side of the aspargus and strawberry beds which were built last year
Every bit of soil moving generates more stones and rocks

Work spreading out from the "Bee Terrace"
Starting to look a bit like a collection of large window boxes without a window
Still no hand-rail though
Access steps for the strawberry bed
Cold frame proved very useful this winter

A Summary Of Progress In 2012
A Summary Of Progress In 2012
Daffodils flowering in March at the top of the site
Horizontal paths were roughly formed with their routes being dictated somewhat by the existing tree planting
A small scree bed was planted just above the sun terrace
As we were due to get a bee hive in the summer it was decided that a terrace at the top of the garden should be created (The Bee Terrace)
Two beds were made, one for asparagus and one for strawberries
Asparagus and strawberry beds
More steps under construction to get to the bee terrace
When you get to the top you need a sit down
Mind you, the view from the seat isn't too bad
In some parts of the garden the only way to get to it is with the aid of a rope

Steps going down from the bee terrace, no hand rail yet, a 2013 task
Horizontal paths a bit more refined with a layer of stones, something the ground is not short of
Whilst phase 2 was to wait until 2013 to be tackled seriously there were a few aspects that needed more urgent attention. One was to clear some of the old brambles, bracken and odd elderberry bush and the dry March proved an ideal time to do this, in this picture can be seen a elder stump with a incinerator made from some old wire link fencing found on the land.
Getting up the slope needed more steps to be builtDaffodils flowering in March at the top of the site
